| 1998/1999 - TOKYO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, HANEDA. Once the main aerial gateway to Japan, Haneda has only lost some of it's luster as it brings up it's domestic operations to premium standards. The perennial champion here is undisputely, All Nippon Airways, the largest domestic carrier in Japan, while it's international operations continues to expand at Narita. Japan Airlines and Japan Air System have a salient presence at Haneda as well. Aside from the original ANA Pokemon 744, the ANA Peanuts 744 and the JAL 777-300, you'll see ANA's 777-200/300s and Filmstrip A320, their Pokemon 767-300, Air Nippon's (ANK) 737s and YS-11s. New start-up Skymark appears with it's Microsoft and DirecTV 767s and JAS' rainbow striped 777s, MD-90s and other aircraft. The only international service to Haneda is provided by Taiwan's China Airlines, CAL appears here in service with 747-200 and 747-400 aircraft. | |

| 1999 - OSAKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ITAMI. Again a former international airport is relegated to purely domestic activity, but the loss of overseas traffic has it's void rapidly filled by a onslaught of domestic action. In addition to the japanese domestic jumbos (seen at Haneda), you'll see JAS off-spring JAC Japan Air Commuter with YS-11s and SAAB 340s along with JAL spin off JEX, JAL Express. | |

1999 - TAIPEI - SUNGSHAN AIPORT and KAOHSIUNG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. TSA - Once more a former international airport shoulders pure domestic duties and this one does it feverishly. The takeoffs and landings don't stop at Sungshan, and it's hard to tell who's the 800 pound gorilla, it appears to be FAT, the Far Eastern Air Transport, the long time domestic carrier that ferries about the island with 757s, 737s and MD-80s. Not to be left behind are chinese locals Uni-Air with it's Dash 8s, BAe 146s and MD-90s, Trans Asia Airways' A320 and A321s and other domestic carriers such as U-land Airlines, Formosa Airlines and Great China Air. KHH - Kaohsiung is on the receiving end of most of TSA's departures, however appearances by a Singapore Airlines A310 and a Dragon Air A330 lends creedence to KHH's 'international' status. |
